Union Minister and BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during the Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, accusing it of inaction in the face of major terrorist attacks during its 2004–2014 tenure.
Nadda cited a series of deadly terror incidents, including the 2005 Delhi serial bomb blasts, the 2006 Varanasi attack, and the Mumbai local train bombings, stating that despite these tragedies, trade and tourism with Pakistan continued uninterrupted under the UPA regime.
“The then government did not act after multiple terror attacks... Terror, trade, and tourism continued as usual between India and Pakistan,” Nadda asserted.
Referring to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Nadda claimed that the UPA government failed to even mention the attack at the 2009 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, demonstrating what he called a “complete lack of political will” to confront terrorism.
“We had the same police and army, but not the same resolve. There was no political will to act,” he added.
Turning his focus to Operation Sindoor, Nadda strongly praised the Narendra Modi-led government’s swift response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, claiming that India exacted revenge within just 22 minutes.
“22 minute mein April 22 ka badla le liya humne. Never in history has Pakistan been given such a fitting response as under PM Modi’s leadership,” Nadda stated emphatically.
He credited the destruction of 11 Pakistani terror bases to Modi’s leadership, stating that their air infrastructure will take at least five years to rebuild.
“Our military is being used with precision. Soldiers have been given full freedom to act, and the world is witnessing the results,” he said, emphasizing Modi’s decisive governance.
The Operation Sindoor debate began in the Lok Sabha on Monday, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and continued on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi issuing a sharp counter to Rahul Gandhi over the Pahalgam attack.
