Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their exceptional precision, courage, and humanity during Operation Sindoor, calling it a landmark military action that marks "a new chapter in India's security history."

Speaking at an event marking the inauguration of 50 new infrastructure projects by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) across six states and two Union Territories, Singh said the strikes were not only bold but also executed with remarkable care to avoid civilian casualties.

“Last night, our brave forces displayed a rare combination of valour, alertness, and sensitivity,” said Singh. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they struck with surgical precision and ensured that no harm came to civilians. This is not just military might — it’s humanity in uniform.”

The precision strikes, carried out across nine terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), were launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 civilians — including women and children — were brutally killed.

At a joint press briefing earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described the Pahalgam massacre as “barbaric” and “deliberately designed to spread fear.”

“The attackers used close-range headshots and carried out killings in front of families. It was an act of psychological terror intended to shake the return to normalcy in Kashmir,” Misri stated.

Misri emphasized that Indian intelligence had credible information pointing toward impending terrorist strikes, compelling the armed forces to act swiftly.

“Our response was restrained, calculated, and focused solely on terror infrastructure. It was not an act of escalation, but one of necessary deterrence,” he added.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who briefed reporters on the operational execution, confirmed that all nine designated terror sites were destroyed without collateral damage.

“The targets were carefully selected to ensure zero harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure. Every strike was a success,” she said.

Operation Sindoor, named after the sacred symbol of honor and protection in Indian tradition, has not only drawn widespread support from political quarters but also resonated emotionally across the nation.

Rajnath Singh concluded by extending the nation's gratitude to the soldiers:

“Our jawans have written a new history with bullets of duty and hearts full of compassion. On behalf of 140 crore Indians — Jai Hind!”
