In a move that could significantly shake the Opposition unity ahead of the upcoming Delhi elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed its anger towards Delhi Congress leader Ajay Maken and threatened to consult other parties within the INDIA alliance to remove the Congress if no action is taken against him.

Sanjay Singh, an AAP leader, made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday, where he strongly condemned Maken’s remarks that were seen as targeting AAP. Singh stated that if the Congress leadership failed to take action against Maken, AAP would approach other parties within the INDIA alliance to remove Congress from the coalition.

This latest escalation comes after media reports suggested that AAP was furious over a complaint filed by Congress against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The complaint accused Kejriwal of misleading the public with “non-existent” welfare schemes, which they claimed were part of his electoral promises.

The tension further deepened when the Delhi Congress, on Wednesday, released a 12-point “white paper” that criticized both AAP and the BJP over issues like unfulfilled promises, mismanagement of civic facilities, pollution, and law and order in the national capital.

As the rift between AAP and Congress widens, this public spat threatens to overshadow the unity of the Opposition, especially with elections around the corner. The INDIA alliance, which has been working to present a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), could face severe challenges in maintaining cohesion if the issue remains unresolved.
