The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has escalated its attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the alleged failure to implement the ₹2,500 monthly aid scheme for women, a key election promise. AAP leader Atishi has written to newly appointed Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, demanding a meeting with AAP MLAs on February 23 to discuss the issue.
In her letter, Atishi questioned why the BJP-led government did not approve the scheme in its first cabinet meeting, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly assuring its implementation during an election rally in Dwarka on January 31. She alleged that the BJP has already “betrayed” the women of Delhi by failing to fulfill its commitment.
This comes after AAP, including former CM Arvind Kejriwal, accused the new administration of misleading voters. The BJP, however, has yet to respond to Atishi’s request, as the political tug-of-war over election promises continues in the capital.
