A day after multiple exit polls forecasted a BJP victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal accused the party of attempting to poach AAP candidates.
In a post on X, Kejriwal claimed that 16 of his party’s candidates received calls offering ₹15 crores and ministerial positions if they defected to the BJP. “If BJP is getting more than 55 seats, why do they need to call our candidates? These fake surveys are just a ploy to break our leaders. But not even one of our men will give in,” he wrote.
Delhi CM Atishi echoed the allegations, while BJP dismissed them outright. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal told ANI, “Who will call his candidates when results are yet to be announced? His claims are a sign of hopelessness.”
Exit polls have projected varied outcomes. The P-MARQ poll predicts BJP winning 39-49 seats, while Matrize suggests a close contest with BJP at 35-40 and AAP at 32-37. On the other hand, WeePreside gives AAP an edge with 46-52 seats.
Vote counting will take place on February 8, with AAP aiming to defend its stronghold after dominating the last two Delhi elections.
