Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over alleged irregularities in the Milkipur Assembly by-election in Uttar Pradesh. Accusing the ruling party of manipulating the electoral process, Yadav claimed that the Election Commission (EC) had failed in its duty to ensure free and fair elections.
“This is the manner in which BJP contests elections. The Election Commission is dead. We will have to gift them white cloth,” Yadav said, in a strongly worded statement criticizing the poll body’s inaction.
The SP chief’s remarks come amid allegations that the BJP resorted to unfair means during the by-election, including voter intimidation and misuse of government machinery. SP leaders have also alleged that polling officials were influenced to favor the ruling party.
