Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal took oath as a minister in the Maharashtra government, marking his return to the state cabinet amid a renewed phase of political consolidation within the ruling coalition.
Shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Bhujbal expressed satisfaction with his political journey and openness to any portfolio. “As it is said, everything is well if it ends well. I have handled every responsibility, from the Home Ministry to everything. Whatever responsibility I'll be given, that will be alright. It's the prerogative of the CM,” he stated, reflecting both humility and political maturity.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, while congratulating Bhujbal, highlighted the veteran leader’s administrative credentials. “Chhagan Bhujbal has been a minister earlier also and has led various departments. He is an experienced leader... I congratulate him, and the state government will greatly benefit from his experience,” said Shinde.
Bhujbal’s re-induction comes at a time when the Maharashtra government is recalibrating its team ahead of crucial upcoming civic and state elections. A founding member of the NCP and a prominent OBC leader, Bhujbal's return is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the government’s outreach, particularly among backward communities.
