Ambedkarnagar Tensions: SP Chief Claims Police Raid on Candidate’s House Amid Voting

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav shared a video of the incident on social media platform X. He criticized the BJP, suggesting that this action reflects their desperation in the face of potential defeat. The video shows an argument between the police and the SP candidate.

The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Saturday accused the Uttar Pradesh police of forcefully entering the house of their candidate, Lalji Verma, in Ambedkarnagar. According to SP, police jumped over the wall and arrested Verma as voting was underway in the constituency.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav shared a video of the incident on social media platform X. He criticized the BJP, suggesting that this action reflects their desperation in the face of potential defeat. The video shows an argument between the police and the SP candidate.

Yadav condemned the police action in his post, stating, “Police raided the house of SP’s winning Ambedkarnagar candidate Shri Lalji Verma, but found nothing. This is a heinous act to tarnish Shri Lalji Verma’s honest image. It is highly condemnable! This is the desperation of the losing BJP.”

The SP has filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding the incident.

Verma, meanwhile, accused the administration of harassment. He said, “The entire administrative machinery of Ambedkarnagar is harassing me, and the people of Ambedkarnagar will respond with their votes.” He assured that despite the harassment, he would not let the voices of the backward classes, Dalits, and minorities be suppressed. Verma urged SP workers to remain steadfast at the polling booths and expressed gratitude for the widespread support from the community.
