In response to a recent surge in terror attacks in the Jammu region, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a critical review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, June 14. The meeting, held with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) officials, came after several terrorist attacks and encounters rocked the valley, heightening concerns over regional security.
According to sources from the news agency PTI, Shah was briefed on the prevailing conditions in Jammu and Kashmir and the measures taken following the recent terror incidents. The review follows a security meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi just a day earlier, underscoring the government’s heightened focus on the issue.
During his meeting, PM Modi was joined by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and other senior officials. The Prime Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the current security landscape and the ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region. Emphasizing the importance of a robust counter-terrorism strategy, Modi called for the deployment of the full range of the country’s counter-terror capabilities to effectively address the threats.
Following the review, PM Modi engaged in a detailed discussion with Amit Shah, focusing on the strategic deployment of security forces and the operational aspects of counter-terrorism measures. Additionally, the Prime Minister spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to receive updates on the local administration’s efforts and the overall situation on the ground.
Amit Shah is scheduled to chair another detailed routine meeting on June 16 to further discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. This upcoming meeting will be attended by key figures including NSA Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, top officials of the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), among others.
The government’s response comes in the wake of escalating violence in the Jammu region, which has seen several terror attacks and encounters in recent weeks. These incidents have raised alarm over the security challenges in the region and prompted high-level reviews to ensure a coordinated and effective counter-terrorism response.
