As the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections draw closer, political activity in the state is reaching a fever pitch. In a surprising turn of events, a report by ABP Majha, citing insider sources, has revealed that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray met with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Mumbai. This unexpected meeting has sparked speculation about the possible unraveling of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the NCP.
Fadnavis and Thackeray, who were once allies but now sit in opposing camps, have ignited curiosity over their recent interaction. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already released its first list of candidates, covering 99 seats. On the other hand, the MVA is still working through internal disagreements, particularly between Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, over contested seats in the Vidarbha region.
The report by ABP Majha also highlights growing voices within both Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress that favor going solo in the upcoming elections. Further adding to the intrigue, the report claims that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut recently had a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
Despite these developments, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has denied any internal strife within the MVA. Speaking to the media, he asserted that the alliance remains united and dismissed the rumors of a fallout as false propaganda by the BJP. “We will contest as Aghadi, and all seat-sharing issues will be resolved by tomorrow evening,” Wadettiwar said, adding that disagreements over six to seven seats in Vidarbha would soon be settled.
With the elections scheduled for November 20 and the results to be declared on November 23, political alliances are under scrutiny. Will the MVA remain intact, or could these secret meetings signal a shift in Maharashtra’s political landscape? The coming days will provide answers as parties gear up for the final phase of election preparations.
