Union Minister Nitin Gadkari sparked curiosity about his future in Indian politics, stating that the work he has done so far is just the "news reel" and the "real film" is yet to begin. His comments came during an exclusive interview with Uday Nirgudkar, marking 11 years of the Narendra Modi government.
"Abhi tak jo hua hai woh to news reel thi, asli film shuru hona baaki hai," Gadkari said, hinting at a possibly larger role post-2029, while humbly adding, "The party decides the responsibilities of its workers, and I will do whatever role is assigned to me."
The senior BJP leader clarified that he has never chased publicity, doesn't publish his political resume, and avoids organising grand welcomes. Instead, he revealed his personal mission: to reduce farmer suicides in Vidarbha through agriculture-focused initiatives.
“Nowadays, I work more on agriculture and other social initiatives rather than road works,” he shared, underlining a shift in his priorities beyond his traditional role as Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.
On India's economic journey, Gadkari addressed the country’s low per capita income, attributing the issue to uncontrolled population growth. He expressed strong support for the Population Control Bill, calling it an economic issue, not a religious or linguistic one.
"Despite so much development, the fruits are not reaching everyone. The reason is increasing population," he asserted.
When asked about Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sudhakar Badgujar’s entry into the BJP, Gadkari dismissed any link, saying, “I don’t know him and have never met him.”
