Ajit Prasad, son of Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad (Ayodhya), has been booked in a criminal case involving allegations of kidnapping, robbery, and assault. The incident stems from a complaint filed by local property dealer Ravi Tiwari, accusing Ajit Prasad and a group of men of attacking and kidnapping him.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred near an SBI branch in Faizabad, where Tiwari was allegedly confronted by Ajit Prasad, Raju Yadav, and 15-20 unidentified individuals. The group reportedly abducted Tiwari, dragging him into their vehicle and driving towards Raqaabganj while physically assaulting him. Tiwari further claimed that the group forcibly took ₹1 lakh from him and recorded a video of the assault before releasing him with threats of death.

Tiwari stated that he was mediating a land deal between Ajit Prasad and local landowner Sheetla Prasad when the attack occurred. A formal complaint was filed at the Kotwali police station. Ashwini Pandey, the in-charge of City Kotwali, confirmed that initial investigations corroborated Tiwari’s allegations, and a case has been registered against Ajit Prasad, Raju Yadav, police constable Shashikant Rai, and other unnamed individuals.

The charges against Ajit Prasad have stirred significant controversy, with BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya using the incident to criticize Samajwadi Party leadership. Malviya claimed on social media that Ajit Prasad, whom Akhilesh Yadav is allegedly promoting in the upcoming by-elections in Milkipur, was involved in the violent attack on Tiwari.

Awadhesh Prasad, however, has dismissed the allegations as a political conspiracy orchestrated by the BJP. He argued that the case is an attempt to distract from ongoing protests against police brutality in the Raunahi area, where a man named Dukhiram died during police action. Prasad believes the charges are a response to the growing popularity of the Samajwadi Party in the Milkipur constituency, which has long been under the shadow of Ayodhya.

Awadhesh Prasad won the Faizabad (Ayodhya) Lok Sabha seat, defeating two-time BJP MP Lallu Singh. His victory was part of the broader success of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, which secured 37 seats in the 2019 elections, while the BJP won 33 seats.

This developing case could play a crucial role in the upcoming political dynamics of the region, particularly in light of the upcoming by-elections in Milkipur.
