A major train accident occurred today when 11 coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express (Train No. 12551) derailed near Nergundi Station in the Cuttack-Nergundi Railway Section of the Khurda Road Division under East Coast Railway. The derailment took place around 11:54 AM.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far. Railway authorities have rushed to the site, and relief teams are actively working to restore normalcy. The East Coast Railway has deployed medical and technical teams to ensure passenger safety and assess the damage.
According to officials, the cause of the derailment is still under investigation. Meanwhile, alternative arrangements are being made to assist passengers in reaching their destinations. Some train services in the affected route have been temporarily disrupted, and diversions have been implemented.
