BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Education Minister Atishi Marlena of using children for political purposes, terming it a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the Election Commission of India's guidelines. Bhatia's criticism came in response to a video featuring children that was allegedly shared by Kejriwal on his social media platform.
Speaking to the media, Bhatia said, "If anyone has learned to use the children of Delhi for dirty politics, it is Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi Marlena. They have pushed our innocent children into politics by uploading their videos."
Violation of Guidelines Alleged
Bhatia pointed out that the Juvenile Justice Act prohibits the exploitation of children for political purposes, and the Election Commission of India (ECI) explicitly states that children should not be involved in political campaigns or activities.
"This act of uploading videos featuring children is not only unethical but also illegal. As per ECI guidelines, there should be no statements, no activities, and no presence of children in such matters. Yet, Kejriwal continues to keep the post live," he added.
Demand for Immediate Action
Calling for accountability, Bhatia demanded the immediate removal of the post. "This 'X' post should be removed immediately, but Arvind Kejriwal has still not taken it down," he stated.
The BJP leader urged the authorities to take strict action against those responsible for involving minors in political campaigns.
AAP Yet to Respond
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is yet to respond to these allegations. Kejriwal and Atishi Marlena have previously defended their party?s focus on education and children, citing it as a key priority of their governance model.
