In a major political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (October 3) alleged that the main accused in the ₹5,000 crore drug haul case, Tushar Goel, also known as Dikki Goel, is a prominent member of the Congress party. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi identified Goel as the “kingpin” of the drug trafficking operation and revealed his alleged political affiliation with Congress.
Trivedi claimed that Goel was appointed as the RTI cell chief of the Indian Youth Congress, sharing a purported offer letter that appointed Goel to the post in 2022. The letter, which allegedly bears the names of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, was also shared by the BJP during a press conference. Furthermore, the BJP revealed photos of Goel with senior Congress leaders Deepender Hooda and KC Venugopal, further raising questions about his ties to the party.
Goel, who goes by the name Dikki Goel on social media, has been claiming to be the chairman of the Delhi Pradesh Congress’ RTI cell. The BJP spokesperson emphasized that the appointment letter confirms his position in the Congress party’s structure.
The controversy erupted following a massive drug bust conducted by the Delhi Police on Tuesday night. A raid on a godown in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur led to the recovery of over 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of marijuana, with an international market value exceeding ₹5,000 crore. This has been touted as the largest drug seizure ever in Delhi.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, identified as Tushar Goel, Bharat Jain, Himanshu, and Aurangzeb. As the investigation progresses, the BJP has intensified its accusations against the Congress, alleging that Goel, a key figure in the case, was closely connected to the party.
The Congress party has yet to issue an official response to the BJP’s claims.
