The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a crucial meeting on Monday at the residence of party chief JP Nadda in New Delhi, just a day before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results. Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among the top leaders in attendance. Other attendees included Vinod Tawde, Manohar Lal Khattar, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Tarun Chugh, Shiv Prakash, Mansukh Mandaviya, and BL Santosh.
The meeting was held to assess the current political situation following exit polls that predict a significant win for the BJP-led alliance. This comes amid a series of meetings by the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc, which has rejected the exit poll forecasts and maintained that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is on its way out.
Although there was no official statement from the BJP regarding the meeting, it is understood that senior leaders, including Nadda, brainstormed strategies to counter the opposition. The discussions likely focused on formulating a robust response and preparing for any challenges that may arise during the counting process.
On Sunday, a BJP delegation approached the Election Commission, accusing Congress and its allies of attempting to undermine the integrity of India's electoral process. The BJP urged the commission to prevent any attempts at "violence and unrest" during the vote counting for the Lok Sabha elections on June 4.
Meanwhile, leaders from the I.N.D.I.A bloc have called on the Election Commission to ensure that postal ballots are counted and their results declared before the outcome of the EVMs is announced. They stressed the importance of issuing clear guidelines on the counting process and ensuring strict implementation to maintain transparency and fairness.
