BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of engaging in vote bank politics following her recent statement. Trivedi remarked, “Her statement shows her vote bank politics. Her official political strategist in the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2021 said that we are counted among the 30% population. We all know what is the meaning of being counted in the ‘30% population’. We can find out for whom she has love and for whom she has hatred from her statement.”
Trivedi’s comments were in response to Banerjee’s remarks, which he believes reveal her preferential treatment towards certain groups, a strategy aimed at consolidating electoral support. The reference to the “30% population” is seen as an allusion to the significant minority community in West Bengal, a demographic often highlighted in discussions of the state’s electoral politics.
This exchange underscores the ongoing tensions between the BJP and Trinamool Congress, with both parties frequently accusing each other of divisive tactics as they vie for influence in the politically charged landscape of West Bengal.
