If the Lok Sabha elections were held today, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would stage a dominant comeback, securing 343 seats, with the BJP alone crossing the majority mark, according to the latest India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation (MOTN) opinion poll.
The survey, conducted between January 2 and February 9, 2025, across 125,123 individuals, projects a massive surge for the BJP, which is expected to win 281 seats—well above the 272 required for a majority. In comparison, the Congress-led INDIA bloc is predicted to drop to 188 seats, a sharp decline from the 232 seats it won in 2024.
In terms of vote share, the NDA is set to rise by 3 percentage points to 47%, while the INDIA bloc is expected to see a modest 1% increase, indicating declining momentum due to internal strife. The Congress is projected to shrink to 78 seats, down from its previous 99, with its vote share dipping to 20%, while the BJP’s vote share is projected to rise to 41%.
With the BJP gaining strength and the opposition struggling, the political landscape appears to be shifting in favor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership ahead of the next electoral battle.
