The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to take charge in Delhi after a resounding victory in the assembly elections, with party leader Parvesh Verma stating that fulfilling commitments made to the people will be the new government's top priority. Among the key promises, he highlighted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged corruption under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Verma, who secured a decisive lead of over 4,000 votes against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, credited the victory to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking to ANI, he stated that the party leadership, in consultation with the elected MLAs, will decide the next Chief Minister.

"In our party, the legislative party decides the Chief Minister, and the leadership gives its approval. The decision will be acceptable to everyone," Verma said. He also praised BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their role in the campaign, which boosted the morale of party workers.

Outlining the new government's key priorities, Verma reiterated the BJP’s commitment to providing financial assistance of ₹2,500 to women, setting up an SIT for corruption investigations, developing the Yamuna riverfront, reducing pollution, and tackling traffic congestion. "We will build a capital that every citizen will be proud of," he added.

The BJP had consistently attacked the AAP government over alleged corruption, including accusations against Kejriwal regarding his residence, often referred to as "Sheesh Mahal" by the opposition.

Verma’s wife, Swati Singh Verma, also expressed gratitude, stating that the results reflect the trust Delhi's citizens have in BJP and PM Modi. "The people of Delhi were fed up with ineffective governments for the past 26 years. Now, development will happen," she said.
