The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress following the recovery of a wad of currency notes from the Rajya Sabha seat of Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the Congress of evading accountability and called for an investigation into the source of the money.
Speaking to ANI, Trivedi said, “Congress leaders have so much money that they don’t even bother to account for what’s left behind. Since no leader has come forward to claim the money, it raises suspicions about its origin. This incident should be thoroughly investigated.”
Highlighting Congress’s past criticisms of accountability, Trivedi added, “The Congress, which has always questioned others, is now refusing to provide clarity on the cash recovered from Parliament. This exposes their double standards.”
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for an inquiry. “A bundle of notes has been recovered from the bench. This is a serious matter, and the Vice President of India has already ordered an investigation. It’s shocking to see such incidents linked to Congress leaders. This must be probed thoroughly,” Tiwari remarked.
The discovery of the cash in the hallowed halls of Parliament has sparked political uproar, with BJP leaders using the incident to question the integrity of the Congress. Meanwhile, the Congress has yet to issue a formal response to the allegations.
The incident underscores the ongoing political tensions between the two parties and has raised questions about accountability and transparency in parliamentary proceedings.
