BJP spokesperson RP Singh on Tuesday issued a stern challenge to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding he repeat his remarks about Sikhs in India or face legal consequences. Singh’s comments follow Gandhi’s recent statements made during his tour of the United States, where he touched upon issues related to Sikh rights.

RP Singh criticized Gandhi for his comments, claiming that the Congress leader’s statements were misleading and inflammatory. “3000 Sikhs were massacred in Delhi; their turbans were taken off, their hair was chopped off, and their beards were shaved,” Singh stated, referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. “He (Rahul Gandhi) doesn’t say that this happened when they (Congress) were in power. I challenge Rahul Gandhi to repeat in India what he is saying about Sikhs, and then I will file a case against him and drag him to court,” he added.

During a recent speech in Virginia, Rahul Gandhi had highlighted the challenges faced by Sikhs and other religious communities in India, stating, “The fight is about whether… he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about and not just for him, for all religions.”

Gandhi’s remarks drew sharp criticism from Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who condemned Gandhi for his statements made abroad. Chouhan criticized Gandhi for allegedly tarnishing India’s image on the international stage. “When Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Leader of Opposition, he never tried to malign the image of the country abroad. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks seem to reflect anti-BJP, anti-RSS, and anti-Modi sentiments and are tantamount to treason,” Chouhan said. He also noted Gandhi’s inability to unite the nation, despite his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also weighed in, accusing the Congress party of being fearful and protective of its high command, which he claimed was shielding individuals accused of serious crimes. “Today, if there is fear anywhere, it is within the Congress party. They are scared that their propaganda of lies will be exposed,” Bhandari asserted. He highlighted the BJP’s electoral successes, asserting that the party’s continued victories reflect public support for PM Modi’s leadership.

In his address, Rahul Gandhi also suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been psychologically affected by the Lok Sabha election results, adding another layer of controversy to the ongoing political discourse. As the debate continues, all eyes are on the unfolding developments and responses from both sides.
