The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to elect a new National President in March, following the completion of state unit elections. The selection process, initially scheduled for January, was delayed due to the Delhi Assembly elections and pending elections in various states.

As per the BJP’s constitution, the National President can only be elected once at least 50% of state units have chosen their respective presidents. With elections completed in 12 states, at least six more state polls need to be concluded before the national leadership vote.

Key States Set for Elections

As per media reports, elections in major states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Haryana will be completed within the next week to ten days. In Bihar, the current state president is likely to retain his position.

In Uttar Pradesh, district-level elections will be completed within the next three to four days, paving the way for the selection of the UP BJP President within a week. Given UP’s political significance, this election is being closely watched.
