Mumbai witnessed a key political development on Saturday as BJP leader Ritu Tawde and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shankar Ghadi formally filed their nomination papers for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Ritu Tawde, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate, submitted her nomination for the mayoral post, while Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Shankar Ghadi filed his papers for the position of Deputy Mayor. Both leaders are contesting as official nominees of the Mahayuti alliance, reflecting the power-sharing understanding between the BJP and Shiv Sena in Mumbai’s civic politics.
