Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Monday urged political strategist turned activist, Prashant Kishor, to end his ongoing ‘anshan’ (fast-unto-death) and send a student delegation for discussions over the protest regarding alleged irregularities in the 70th combined competitive examination (CCE) conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) in December 2024.
Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraj Party, has been fasting for 12 days in protest against the alleged issues in the BPSC exam held on December 13. Despite his deteriorating health, the 47-year-old leader has continued his fast, gaining attention from various student groups and political circles.
According to Jan Suraj Party, Kishor is expected to meet with student representatives at his Sheikhpura residence today. “Prashant Kishor’s ‘anshan’ continues, but he was discharged from the hospital on Saturday after his health showed signs of improvement,” said a statement from the party. Kishor was hospitalized last week after being arrested by the police for staging a dharna at a prohibited site. He was later admitted to ICU before being moved to a general ward.
The Jan Suraj Party delegation, led by Working President Manoj Bharti, met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at the Raj Bhavan. Bharti shared that they submitted a memorandum urging the Governor to intervene. The Governor expressed concern for Kishor’s prolonged fast and assured the delegation that he would discuss the issue with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, prioritizing both the students’ demands and Kishor’s well-being.
