A Class 12 student in Faridabad, Haryana, was tragically killed on August 23 by members of a cow vigilante group who allegedly mistook him for a cattle smuggler. The incident has led to the arrest of five individuals, identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurabh, who are now in police custody as the investigation continues.

The attack occurred when Aryan Mishra, the victim, along with his friends Shanky, Harshit, and two girls, were driving on the Delhi-Agra National Highway. The vigilantes, acting on a tip-off about suspected cattle smugglers driving Renault Duster and Toyota Fortuner cars in the area, began chasing the group after they refused to stop when confronted.

According to sources, Aryan’s friend Harshit, who was driving the Duster, did not stop the car because they believed the pursuers were sent by someone with whom their friend Shanky had a feud. This misunderstanding led to a 30-kilometer high-speed chase, during which the vigilantes opened fire at the car, hitting Aryan in the neck.

The situation escalated further when the car finally stopped, and the attackers, fearing retaliation, fired again, this time hitting Aryan in the chest. It was only after seeing the two girls in the vehicle that the attackers realized they had targeted the wrong individuals and fled the scene.

Aryan was immediately rushed to a hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. Authorities have confirmed that the weapon used in the attack was illegal, adding another layer of gravity to the case.

The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about the actions of self-styled cow vigilantes in the region. The arrested individuals are currently under investigation, with police continuing to probe the circumstances leading to this tragic and avoidable loss of life.
