Surat witnessed an extravagant farewell stunt as Class 12 students from a prestigious school paraded around 35 luxury cars on the streets of Jahangirpura on February 7. The students, dressed in blazers, recorded the event using drones while blasting the Bollywood song “Arjan Vailly” from the movie Animal.
The video went viral, triggering public outrage over traffic violations and the authorities’ inaction. Following the backlash, Surat traffic police launched an investigation, identifying multiple violations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amita Vanani assured strict action, stating, “We have reviewed the footage and identified multiple violations. The law will take its course.”
Authorities visited the students’ school to track down their parents. However, the school’s founder, Vardan Kabra, clarified that the institution had strictly advised against personal vehicle use and even arranged buses for students. “We fully cooperated with the police and provided all necessary details,” he added.
According to DCP (Zone-5) Rakesh Barot, 26 cars have been identified, and 12 have been detained so far. The incident has raised concerns over reckless youth behavior and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
