Congress MP Manish Tewari provided clarity on the ongoing judicial proceedings related to the impeachment notice against a High Court judge, outlining the multi-step inquiry process.

Tewari stated, “The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had formed an in-house committee comprising two Chief Justices and a judge from the Karnataka High Court. They submitted their enquiry report, which served as the basis for drafting the impeachment notice.”

He further explained, “This impeachment notice was then moved concurrently in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. After a prima facie review, the Speaker constituted a committee under the Judges Enquiry Act to re-examine the matter.”

“The committee will follow its procedure, submit a report, and based on that, further steps will be decided,” Tewari added, emphasizing adherence to due process in judicial accountability.
