Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, speaking at a Congress Working Committee meeting, interpreted the Lok Sabha election results as a clear rejection of divisive and hateful politics. He stressed the importance of maintaining unity within the INDIA bloc, both within and outside of Parliament.
Kharge, addressing the CWC meeting, acknowledged the electoral victory as a significant milestone but urged caution, noting that the party’s performance fell short of expectations in certain states. Despite this, he emphasized that the electorate had shown faith in the Congress and delivered a strong message against autocratic forces and those opposed to the Constitution.
“The electorate has voiced their opposition to the ruling party’s dictatorial and undemocratic tendencies. This marks a definitive rejection of the politics of division, hatred, and polarization,” Kharge remarked.
He commended the newly elected Congress MPs for their victories under challenging circumstances and highlighted the increase in the party’s vote share and seats in areas where the Bharat Jodo and Bharat Jodo Nyay yatras were conducted.
“It’s noteworthy that wherever the Bharat Jodo Yatra was conducted, we witnessed a rise in both the vote percentage and the number of seats for the Congress party,” Kharge pointed out.
Furthermore, Kharge expressed gratitude towards the INDIA bloc partners, recognizing their contributions in various states and their collaborative efforts towards a common goal.
