In a bid to win the trust of Delhi’s electorate, the Congress party has unveiled a series of promises ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. On Thursday, January 16, Congress made key announcements that include providing LPG cylinders at Rs 500, free ration kits, and 300 units of free electricity per month if it comes to power.
The announcement was made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accompanied by AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav, during a press conference. Reddy stated, “Congress will fulfil its five guarantees if it is elected to power in Delhi.”
In addition to these measures, Congress had earlier promised financial support and welfare schemes for the people of Delhi. On January 6, the party announced the “Pyaari Didi Yojana,” under which women will receive a monthly monetary grant of Rs 2,500. Just two days later, on January 8, the party introduced its “Jeevan Raksha Yojana,” offering free health insurance of up to Rs 25 lakh.
Furthermore, Congress vowed to support the youth of Delhi with an “unemployed youth” scheme, under which Rs 8,500 will be provided to educated unemployed youths every month for one year.
The announcements made by Congress aim to address the financial burdens faced by Delhi’s residents while supporting women and youth in particular. With these guarantees, Congress seeks to position itself as a party that prioritizes welfare and support for the common people of Delhi.
