In a fiery attack ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating a voter manipulation scheme under the banner of ‘Operation Lotus.’ Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP has been tampering with voter lists to tilt the election results in their favor.
“In my New Delhi assembly constituency, their ‘Operation Lotus’ has been active since December 15. In just 15 days, they have filed applications to delete 5,000 votes and add 7,500 new ones,” claimed Kejriwal. He expressed outrage over the alleged interference, stating, “Why even hold elections if you’re tampering with approximately 12% of the total voters in an assembly constituency? This is not democracy; it’s a kind of game being played in the name of elections.”
Kejriwal pointed to alleged voter list manipulations in other constituencies, particularly Shahdara, where he claimed the BJP attempted to delete 11,800 votes. However, he noted that the move was blocked by the Election Commission of India (ECI) after intervention.
The AAP leader also raised questions about the credibility of the Election Commission. Referring to the summary revision process on October 29, he said, “Approximately 1 lakh voters were added to the New Delhi constituency. Yet, the BJP is now questioning the validity of 12% of these additions, which casts doubt on the Election Commission itself.”
