As the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 draw near, political parties in the national capital are gearing up for a fierce battle. With 70 assembly constituencies in the city, the election will be a three-way contest between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress. While AAP is hoping to retain power for a third consecutive term, the BJP is pulling out all stops to dethrone Arvind Kejriwal's party. Congress, on the other hand, is looking to make a comeback and expand its seat share after failing to win any seats in the last elections.

Here’s a look at some of the key constituencies in the upcoming elections:

New Delhi: The New Delhi constituency, previously known as the Gole Market seat, is one of the most high-profile contests of the Delhi Assembly elections. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, who has represented this seat since 2013, faces stiff competition from BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit. Kejriwal has managed to win this seat every time since he first contested in 2013, but this time, the BJP and Congress are determined to challenge his dominance.

Kalka Ji: The Kalka Ji constituency will see a triangular contest between Delhi CM Atishi of AAP, BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri, and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Atishi is the current MLA from Kalka Ji and has been successful in defending the seat in past elections. However, with BJP's Biduri and Congress's Lamba contesting, this seat is expected to witness intense campaigning.

Jangpura: Jangpura has been a stronghold of AAP, with the party winning this seat since its first contest in 2013. This time, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is contesting from this seat. He will face competition from BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress's Farhad Suri, making this another closely watched constituency in the upcoming polls.

Malviya Nagar: Malviya Nagar has been a stronghold of AAP, with Somnath Bharti winning this seat every time since 2013. Bharti, who is seeking re-election in 2025, will face BJP’s Satish Upadhyay and Congress’s Jitendra Kumar Kochar in a bid to retain the seat for AAP.

Ballimaran: Ballimaran, part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, has been a competitive seat. AAP’s Imran Sheikh has won the seat in both 2015 and 2020, while Congress's Harron Yusuf bagged the seat in 2013. The main contest this time will be between Sheikh and Yusuf, with the BJP fielding Kamal Bagri in a bid to consolidate Hindu votes in this Muslim-dominated seat.

Shakur Basti: Shakur Basti, also part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat, is another important constituency to watch. AAP's Satyendar Jain has been victorious in this seat three times. In the 2025 polls, Jain will face BJP's Karnail Singh and Congress's Satish Luthra.

Patparganj: Patparganj has been a stronghold of AAP, with Manish Sisodia winning the seat in three consecutive elections. However, this time Sisodia has decided to contest from Jangpura, and AAP has fielded Avadh Ojha, a teacher-turned-politician. Ojha will face BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi and Congress’s Anil Chaudhary, and AAP is hopeful of retaining the seat.

Rohini: The Rohini constituency has been a battleground between AAP and BJP. BJP has won the seat twice in 2015 and 2020, while AAP had secured it in 2013. This time, BJP’s Rajesh Gupta will face AAP’s Pradeep Mittal and Congress's Sumesh Gupta in what promises to be a fierce contest.

Okhla: The Okhla seat, which has been dominated by AAP's Amanatullah Khan since 2015, will see a tough battle this time. Khan will face BJP’s Manish Chaudhary and Congress’s Ariba Khan. The seat has witnessed controversies, particularly around Khan's involvement in the Delhi Waqf Board case, adding an interesting layer to the contest.

As the election date of February 5 approaches, political campaigns across Delhi are intensifying, and all eyes will be on these key constituencies that could determine the outcome of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. The votes will be counted on February 8.
