In a significant development on Wednesday, the Delhi Court remanded Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for three days in connection with the ongoing liquor policy case. The agency had initially sought a five-day remand but the court settled on a shorter period. Consequently, Kejriwal is set to be produced in court again on June 29.
The formal arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor was executed by the CBI from Tihar Jail on Wednesday morning. Kejriwal was then transported to Rouse Avenue Court for a hearing pertaining to the excise policy case. Notably, his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, accompanied him to the court.
The AAP has vehemently criticized the CBI’s actions, alleging political conspiracy. According to AAP, the BJP is behind the arrest, intending to hinder Kejriwal’s political activities. The party took to social media to voice their concerns.
“Arrest of @ArvindKejriwal ji by CBI is a new conspiracy of BJP. Today the hearing on bail of Kejriwal ji was to be held in Supreme Court. BJP thought that Arvind Kejriwal would get bail from the court. Before that, BJP along with CBI arrested Arvind Kejriwal in a fake case. No matter how many conspiracies the dictator hatches, truth will always prevail,” AAP posted.
The allegations of conspiracy have intensified the political climate, with AAP supporters rallying behind Kejriwal. The upcoming court appearance on June 29 is highly anticipated, as it will be a critical juncture in the ongoing legal and political battle.
