In a significant bust, Delhi Police have uncovered and dismantled a fake international police station and Intelligence Bureau (IB) office operating in Noida. Five individuals have been arrested, including former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bivas Adhikari, who is alleged to be the mastermind behind this elaborate scam.
Bivas Adhikari, once serving as Block Head in Birbhum district of West Bengal, is reportedly under multiple investigations related to scams and corruption in his home state. Fleeing to Noida, Adhikari is said to have orchestrated a fraudulent setup resembling an international law enforcement agency with help from his associates.
The accused allegedly sent counterfeit notices to residents of West Bengal, masquerading as official international legal communications. They used this ruse to intimidate victims and demand money, promising to resolve land disputes and secure bureaucratic favors in return.
Adding to the deception, Bivas Adhikari’s son reportedly played a key role, utilizing vehicles emblazoned with Interpol stickers to give their operation an air of authenticity while extorting funds.
During the raid, police seized a variety of incriminating items, including fake identification cards, signage, mobile phones, and cash from the premises used by the gang.
Multiple FIRs have been registered against Bivas Adhikari and his son in West Bengal. Investigations also revealed a prior attempt by Adhikari to run a similar fake “international police and investigation bureau” office in two flats in Kolkata’s Beliaghata area, which was thwarted by timely action from Kolkata Police.
In addition to state-level probes, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are investigating Adhikari in connection with the high-profile teacher recruitment scam.
