Delhi is ready for the Lok Sabha Election 2024 on May 25. In this phase, all seven parliamentary constituencies—Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, and South Delhi—will vote on Saturday. To ensure smooth elections, some restrictions are in place, including a 48-hour liquor sales ban. However, Delhi Metro and bus services will remain open for voters and security personnel. What’s Closed?
Schools and Colleges
Due to the heatwave and elections, all private schools in Delhi will start summer vacation until June 30.
Non-essential government services will be closed for the day on May 25.
Liquor Stores
All liquor stores and licensed premises in Delhi will be shut from 6 PM on May 23 to 6 PM on May 25. No liquor sales will be allowed on June 4, the day of the election result announcement.
What’s Open?
Delhi Metro
Delhi Metro services will be functional on voting day. Trains on all routes will start running at 4 AM to help voters and security personnel.
Bus Services
The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will run extra buses on 35 routes from 4 AM on May 25. The Delhi Integrated Multi-Model Transit System Ltd. (DIMTS) will also provide bus services on 46 routes.
With these arrangements, the Delhi government aims to ensure a smooth and easy voting process for everyone.
