Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishore has launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government for its handling of protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants. Speaking in Patna on Friday, Kishore accused the state administration of replacing democracy with “lathi-tantra” (rule of the stick) in recent years.

Expressing solidarity with the students, Kishore strongly criticized the use of force against individuals voicing their concerns peacefully. “In Bihar, democracy has transformed into ‘lathi-tantra’ over the past 1-2 years. If any section of society approaches the government to express their views, the response is often lathi charges. This is harmful to democracy,” he said.

Urging the government to listen to the grievances of the students, Kishore added, “If people are peacefully and democratically expressing their views, there is no justification for lathi charges. I stand firmly with the students. Action must be taken against those responsible for this brutality.”

Kishore’s remarks come in the wake of widespread criticism of the state government’s handling of the situation, with opposition leaders and activists rallying behind the students demanding justice.
