Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday visited the revered Janaki Temple in Sitamarhi, seeking blessings for Bihar’s progress and people’s happiness. “We took the blessings of Mata Janaki and we all want Bihar to develop,” Yadav said after offering prayers.
Striking a humorous yet pointed note, Tejashwi launched an attack on his opponents with a metaphor reminiscent of his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s style. “Dhaan ki roti tawa mein, virodhi udd gaye hawa mein,” he quipped, suggesting that rival leaders have lost direction and impact.
Backing the campaign’s significance, RJD MP Manoj Jha stressed that the Voter Adhikar Yatra has grown into a people’s movement. “This yatra is not limited to Rahul Gandhi or Tejashwi Yadav or the Mahagathbandhan. This yatra now belongs to every Bihari. People want a complete transformation, and for that, votes must remain protected,” Jha told ANI, adding that the surge in public support signals “big changes in the coming days.”
The 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, is traversing 1,300 km across 20 districts, highlighting alleged voter list irregularities—termed by the Opposition as ‘vote chori’ (vote theft). On Friday, the yatra covered Bettiah to Siwan via Gopalganj and is set to conclude in Patna on September 1.
With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, the political battle is heating up. The NDA bloc currently commands 131 seats in the 243-member Assembly, while the INDIA alliance holds 111 seats, led by RJD with 77 MLAs.
