Donald Trump Briefed On Epstein Case Mention: DOJ Finds No Credible Link, White House Dismisses Claims

In a significant but not unexpected development, U.S. President Donald Trump was informed earlier this year that his name appears in internal Justice Department files relating to the Jeffrey Epstein case, according to a CNN report citing sources familiar with the matter.

During a routine White House briefing in May, Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly informed Trump and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche that his name was among several prominent individuals mentioned in documents reviewed during the department’s Epstein investigation.

According to two senior White House officials, the briefing was part of a standard update on the Justice Department’s findings, and the reference to Trump was not a central focus. Bondi also noted that several high-profile individuals were named in the files, but reiterated that investigators had found no credible evidence of a “client list” or any new details contradicting the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide.

Sources close to the Justice Department told CNN that while Trump’s name does appear in the files, it is associated with unsubstantiated and ultimately uncredible claims, many of which had previously been disclosed publicly. The context in which Trump is named remains unclear.

Trump had known Epstein during the 1990s, when Epstein frequently sought proximity to powerful figures in business, politics, and entertainment. While photos and public interactions from that time are well-documented, no direct connection between Trump and any alleged criminal activity has ever been established.

A senior White House official downplayed the relevance of the findings: “The White House is not surprised by this — Trump's name was in the binders handed out during the briefing. This isn’t new or groundbreaking.”

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung also issued a sharp response to CNN, stating: “The President kicked Epstein out of his club for being a creep. This is just another recycled fake news story pushed by Democrats and liberal media outlets, much like the Obama-era Russiagate hoax — which President Trump was proven right about.”
