Former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has claimed that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently contacted him to apologize for past censorship. According to Trump, Zuckerberg also assured him that he would not endorse a Democrat in the upcoming election.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated, “So, Mark Zuckerberg called me. First of all, he called me a few times. He called me after the event and he said, ‘That was really amazing, it was very brave.'” The interview, reported by PTI, revealed that Zuckerberg expressed respect for Trump’s actions, saying, “He actually announced he’s not gonna support a Democrat because he can’t because he respected me for what I did that day.”
During the same interview, Trump also directed criticism at Google, accusing the tech giant of censoring news and photos. “Google has been very bad. They’ve been very irresponsible and I have a feeling that Google is going to be close to shut down because I don’t think Congress is going to take it. I really don’t think so. Google has to be careful,” Trump remarked. He further claimed that it was nearly impossible to find images or information about the failed assassination attempt against him on July 13 through Google.
Google has refuted these allegations, maintaining that their search algorithms operate without bias and that they do not engage in censorship. This denial adds another layer to the ongoing tension between Trump and major tech companies, which he has frequently accused of being biased against conservatives.
