The Economic Survey for the fiscal year 2024-25 was tabled by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha on Friday, marking a significant step in the lead-up to the Union Budget 2025. The report was presented around 1:00 PM IST, setting the stage for the discussions and deliberations that will follow in the coming days.

Following the tabling of the Economic Survey, both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day, with the Budget Speech scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The 2025 Budget session commenced on January 31 and is set to conclude on April 4, 2025.

The Economic Survey of India, often referred to as the “report card” of the country’s economy, provides a comprehensive analysis of India’s economic performance during the previous fiscal year. It serves as an essential document, outlining key developments and challenges faced by the Indian economy.

The Survey is split into two major sections. Part A typically covers the key economic events of the year along with an overall assessment of the economy. Part B focuses on more specific areas, including social security, poverty, healthcare, education, human development, and climate change.

The Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), Venkatramanan Anantha Nageswaran, will hold a press conference at 2:00 PM IST to discuss the key findings of the Survey and answer queries from the media.
