A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after it captured an elderly man threatening a traffic police officer in the Chandousi Kotwali area of Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, unfolded after the traffic police stopped the man’s motorcycle for a traffic violation, leading to a heated confrontation.

Viral Video Shows Shocking Threats

In the video, the elderly man can be seen and heard making threats against the officer, saying, “If you ever stop my vehicle again, I will come with a knife and stab you.” The traffic officer, identified as Devendra, filmed the entire altercation on his mobile phone as evidence of the incident.

Traffic Violation Escalates Into Altercation

According to a Live Hindustan report, traffic officer Devendra and his colleague Kunal were conducting vehicle inspections near the Lal Petrol Pump when they stopped a motorcycle carrying two riders who were not wearing helmets. The bike’s rider, identified as Rahish Ahmed from Mohalla Kagzi, was fined under the Motor Vehicle Act for failing to wear a helmet and riding without a valid driving license. This angered Ahmed and the pillion rider, leading to a heated verbal exchange with the officers.

Despite Kunal’s efforts to de-escalate the situation, the confrontation continued, with both men verbally abusing and threatening the officers. The situation reached a breaking point when Rahish Ahmed threatened to stab Devendra if he was ever stopped again.

Police Action and Arrest

Following the incident, Devendra filed a formal complaint at the Chandousi police station against Rahish Ahmed and an unidentified individual involved in the altercation. Acting swiftly on the complaint, local police arrested Rahish Ahmed and charged him under relevant sections of the law for issuing threats and violating traffic regulations.

The video of the altercation, which has since gone viral, has raised concerns over the increasing instances of aggression and violence toward law enforcement officers. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved in threatening or obstructing officers while they perform their duties.
