Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai on Monday for a series of medical tests aimed at identifying potential blockages in his heart and arteries. Sources indicate that angiography is likely to be performed, depending on the test results.
Thackeray’s health concerns surfaced following his Dussehra rally speech on October 12, where he strongly criticized the ruling Maharashtra government and the Centre. Since the event, it was reported that he had not been feeling well.
In a reassuring message to the public, Uddhav Thackeray’s son, Aaditya Thackeray, took to X (formerly Twitter) to inform followers about his father’s health status. “This morning, Uddhav Thackeray ji did a pre-planned detailed check-up at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital. With your best wishes, all is well, and he is fully ready to get to work and serve the people,” Aaditya wrote.
This hospital visit follows Thackeray’s earlier cardiac treatments. In 2016, he underwent angiography at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, following a 2012 angioplasty in which doctors placed eight stents to treat multiple blockages in three major arteries of his heart. Thackeray had also undergone a second angioplasty later in 2012, which addressed a 60% blockage in his left anterior descending (LAD) artery.
As Thackeray undergoes further tests, his supporters are hopeful for his swift recovery, while political observers remain keenly attuned to any potential impact on his public engagements. Despite his health concerns, the former Chief Minister appears ready to return to work and continue serving the people of Maharashtra.
