Haryana Municipal Polls: BJP Crushes Congress, Wins 9 Out Of 10 Mayor Seats In Landslide Victory

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stormed to victory in the Haryana municipal elections, winning 9 out of 10 mayoral seats, dealing a crushing blow to the Congress. This landslide triumph comes just five months after the BJP’s historic hat-trick in the state assembly elections, further solidifying its dominance in Haryana politics.

In a major embarrassment for former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the BJP snatched key strongholds Sonepat and Rohtak, where Congress suffered a humiliating defeat. BJP candidates won with massive margins, wiping out Congress from the municipal map. In Gurugram, BJP’s Raj Rani Malhotra delivered a thumping victory over Congress’ Seema Pahuja by 1.79 lakh votes, while in Faridabad, BJP’s Praveen Joshi defeated Congress’ Lata Rani.

Rohtak, considered Hooda’s bastion, saw BJP’s Ram Avtar Valmiki trounce Congress’ Suraj Mal Kiloi by 45,000 votes. In Sonepat, BJP’s Rajiv Jain comfortably defeated Congress’ Kamal Dewan. The Panipat seat was another massive win for BJP’s Komal Saini, who crushed Congress’ Savita Garg by over 1.23 lakh votes. BJP continued its clean sweep in Karnal, where Renu Bala Gupta beat Congress’ Manoj Wadhwa by 25,000 votes, while in Ambala, BJP’s Shailaija Sachdeva won against Congress’ Amisha Chawla.

The saffron wave extended to Yamunanagar, where BJP’s Suman Bahmani overpowered Congress’ Kirna Devi, and in Hisar, BJP’s Praveen Popli crushed Congress’ Krishan Singla by 64,000 votes. The only upset came in Manesar, where independent candidate Inderjeet Yadav edged out BJP’s Sunder Lal by 2,000 votes.

Reacting to the massive victory, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini declared that the results were a clear approval of BJP’s policies and governance, promising a “triple-engine” government working for a developed Haryana, developed India. State BJP President Mohan Lal Badoli thanked voters for their overwhelming support, asserting that the people of Haryana have once again reaffirmed their faith in the BJP.
