he Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the dominant force in the Haryana municipal elections, maintaining a strong lead in 9 out of 10 municipal corporations as vote counting continues. The elections, held on March 2 and March 9, covered key municipal corporations, including Gurugram, Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar, and Panipat, along with bypolls in Ambala and Sonipat and elections in 21 municipal committees.

  • In Manesar, Independent candidate Inderjeet Yadav pulled off an upset by defeating BJP’s Sunder Lal.
  • In Sonipat, BJP’s Rajiv Jain, a former media advisor to the Chief Minister, is leading against Congress candidate Kamal Deewan.
  • BJP also secured the chairman post in Julana, a stronghold of Congress MLA and wrestler Vinesh Phogat.
