BJP MP and veteran actress Hema Malini has called for immediate action in the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata. Speaking to the media in Mathura, Malini expressed her outrage over the incident and urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure swift justice.
“What happened in Bengal is so wrong. Action should be taken immediately,” Malini stated, emphasizing the need for prompt and decisive measures against the perpetrator. She supported the ongoing protests by BJP workers, saying, “BJP workers are protesting over it, and that is, indeed, right. An atrocity against a woman took place, and action should be taken at the earliest.”
Malini, a prominent figure in the BJP, made a direct appeal to Mamata Banerjee, urging her to expedite the process of justice. “I request Mamata ji to facilitate what is right in this regard and not delay it. The entire country is waiting,” she said, underscoring the national attention the case has garnered.
The gruesome incident, which occurred at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9, has sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country. As public pressure mounts, Hema Malini’s comments add to the chorus demanding strict punishment for the perpetrator.
“The perpetrator should indeed be punished,” Malini concluded, echoing the sentiments of many who are calling for the harshest penalties under the law.
Her statement comes amidst a growing political and social uproar, with many questioning the efficiency of the investigation and the delay in delivering justice. The call for swift action from prominent leaders like Malini further intensifies the scrutiny on the West Bengal government’s handling of the case.
