The Supreme Court of India has granted interim protection from arrest to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as ‘The Beer Biceps’, amid a row over his controversial comments on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The apex court, however, did not hold back in criticizing Allahbadia for using “dirty” and “perverted” language, as it condemned his remarks regarding parents’ sexual relationships.

Allahbadia faces multiple FIRs for his offensive comments, with cases filed in Mumbai, Guwahati, and Jaipur. The court ordered that no further FIRs should be registered in connection with this incident. The YouTuber’s interim protection, however, comes with the condition that he cooperate with the ongoing investigation and may seek police protection if necessary.

Top Court Slams Allahbadia’s Language: “It Shows a Perverted Mind”

The Supreme Court bench, comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh, questioned Allahbadia’s lawyer about whether he was defending the type of language used on the show. Advocate Abhnav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia, admitted to being “disgusted” by the language but contested whether the remarks should be criminalized. Justice Surya Kant responded sharply, asking, “If this is not obscenity, then what is obscenity?” He further emphasized that such language goes beyond an individual’s morality, describing it as a lack of responsibility.

SC: “Parents, Sisters, Daughters Will Feel Ashamed”

The court expressed outrage over the nature of Allahbadia’s statements, saying they were deeply insulting to parents, sisters, and daughters across the country. Justice Surya Kant condemned the remarks as “perverted,” stating, “The words you have used, parents will feel ashamed. Sisters and daughters will feel ashamed. The entire society will feel ashamed.”

‘Cheap Publicity’ at the Cost of Society

The court also took issue with Allahbadia’s apparent attempt to gain “cheap publicity” by making such controversial statements, and warned that similar actions could lead to further attempts at exploiting public sentiment for attention. Allahbadia, who later issued an apology for his comments, faced significant backlash on social media, and his collaborator Samay Raina also removed the offending episodes from YouTube.
