Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday visited the Yamuna Bank area, reaffirming her commitment to rejuvenating the Yamuna River and improving Delhi’s monsoon resilience. Addressing media during her inspection, the CM said, “I have a connection to the Yamuna. I want to keep looking at it, so I remember my duty to clean it…”

Her remarks came during a visit aimed at reviewing ongoing riverfront cleanliness efforts and flood preparedness plans amid rising monsoon activity across the city.

Turning her attention to waterlogging concerns, especially in flood-prone zones, CM Gupta stated: “…We need to check whether the drains have any blockages, are narrow, or lack connectivity. Yesterday, we took cognisance of problems where they arose. Immediately, the next step of action will be taken. But I am relieved that water did not stagnate in the Minto Bridge area…”

The Minto Bridge, notorious for monsoon waterlogging, remained unaffected this year—something the CM credited to improved drainage coordination and early intervention.

CM Gupta also addressed the looming dengue threat, saying the government is gearing up for detailed preparedness measures to tackle vector-borne diseases during the rainy season. She emphasized that civic bodies have been instructed to stay on alert and work proactively with health departments.
