‘I have helped You In This case’: Chairman Dhankhar And Congress Chief Kharge Share Light Moments Amidst Rajya Sabha Debate

The congenial atmosphere fostered today serves as a reminder of the potential for constructive dialogue even in the midst of political differences, setting a positive tone for future discussions in the Rajya Sabha.

In a surprising turn of events two days after Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed disappointment over Leader of the Opposition and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge entering the well of the House, the two leaders engaged in a series of light-hearted exchanges this morning.

During the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, Mr. Kharge, citing knee pain, mentioned he couldn’t stand for long. In a gracious response, Chairman Dhankhar permitted him to address the House while seated, ensuring his comfort. Mr. Kharge, known for his passionate speeches, joked that seated speeches lack the same fervor. Chairman Dhankhar playfully acknowledged this sentiment, remarking, “I have helped you in this case,” prompting laughter from both sides.

The camaraderie continued as Mr. Kharge thanked the Chairman for the opportunity to speak, leading to light-hearted banter about misunderstandings and the Chairman occasionally misleading Mr. Kharge. This exchange, filled with humor, marked a stark departure from the tense atmosphere on Friday when Opposition members protested in the Well demanding a debate on medical admissions irregularities.

Reflecting on Friday’s incident, where Chairman Dhankhar expressed disappointment over Mr. Kharge’s Well entry, the Congress leader defended his actions, attributing them to being ignored and insisting it was necessary to draw attention.

The lighter interactions today underscored moments of unity and humor amidst political debates, highlighting the human side of parliamentary proceedings.
