In a dramatic development that has stirred Maharashtra’s political landscape, former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has leveled explosive accusations against BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis. Deshmukh alleges that Fadnavis orchestrated a conspiracy to undermine key figures in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, including Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aaditya Thackeray, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, and Transport Minister Anil Parab.
Deshmukh’s claims are backed by his assertion that he has video recordings to support his allegations. “I have leveled allegations against Devendra Fadnavis that pressure was put on me to speak against Uddhav Thackeray, Aaditya Thackeray, and Ajit Pawar. I have video recordings to prove it. If someone challenges me, then I will reveal everything,” Deshmukh declared. He also responded to recent remarks by Fadnavis, who claimed to possess video evidence of Deshmukh speaking about Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Deshmukh challenged Fadnavis to make those video clippings public.
According to Deshmukh, an intermediary sent by Fadnavis pressured him to produce false affidavits against the aforementioned leaders. Deshmukh described a tense encounter where he was reportedly offered a deal: fabricate accusations against the MVA leaders or face severe scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “A person was sent by (Devendra) Fadnavis (who was then in opposition) met me, carrying with him affidavits. I was asked to make written allegations against Uddhav Thackeray, (his son and then cabinet minister) Aaditya Thackeray, (then finance Minister) Ajit Pawar, and (then transport minister) Anil Parab,” Deshmukh recounted.
He further alleged that he was coerced into making a false affidavit accusing Aaditya Thackeray of involvement in a horrific crime, specifically the rape and murder of Disha Salian, a former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Deshmukh maintains that his refusal to comply with these demands led to the subsequent investigations by the ED and CBI.
