Haryana Minister Anil Vij has stirred controversy with his remarks on Holi celebrations, stating that those who cannot tolerate the festival’s colours should stay indoors. His statement has triggered mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting his view and others accusing him of insensitivity.

“If you are living in Hindustan—a place of Hindus—and if Hindus are celebrating their festival Holi, and some colour splashes on you, you should have the patience to tolerate it. If it’s raining outside, those who don’t want to get drenched should remain in their homes,” Vij said. He also added that he personally does not play Holi and chooses to stay indoors during the festival.

The minister’s comments come amid rising debates on religious tolerance and public celebrations. Critics argue that Holi, while a joyous festival, should not be forced upon anyone, while supporters claim that it is part of Indian culture and should be respected by all.
