The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, is set to stage a significant protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday, voicing strong opposition to the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The demonstration comes amidst allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of a conspiracy aimed at jeopardizing Kejriwal’s health during his detention at Tihar Jail.
The protest will see prominent figures from various opposition parties come together to address what they claim is a broader issue of the BJP-led Central Government’s alleged misuse of central investigation agencies to target a sitting Chief Minister. Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai, Nationalist Congress Party (NCPSP) chief Sharad Pawar, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja, and Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of the Delhi Chief Minister, have joined the protest.
The AAP has accused the central government of deliberately creating conditions in Tihar Jail that could harm Kejriwal’s health, a claim that has intensified the political temperature in the capital. The party has demanded immediate attention to these concerns, arguing that Kejriwal’s arrest is part of a larger strategy to undermine the Delhi government’s efforts and disrupt its leadership.

Earlier in the day, AAP leader Sanjay Singh called for the dismissal of Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and criticized the regulation of coaching centers nationwide, further amplifying the party’s grievances. Additionally, AAP MPs staged a protest at the Parliament premises, demanding accountability and highlighting ongoing issues such as negligence towards student safety and inadequate monsoon preparedness.
Since late Saturday night, demonstrations have surged, focusing on the perceived mishandling of Kejriwal’s arrest and the broader implications of such actions. The protests reflect growing discontent among opposition parties regarding what they view as the central government’s overreach and mishandling of crucial administrative and governance issues.
The INDIA bloc’s unified stand underscores a significant moment in Indian politics, as opposition parties rally together to challenge the central government’s actions and advocate for a fair resolution to the ongoing crisis. As the protest unfolds at Jantar Mantar, all eyes will be on how this collective opposition shapes the political discourse and influences the central government’s approach to the controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s arrest.
